Let us know what you think of “A Monster Calls”.

We’d like to hear your thoughts on this years READ DL title, as a group or individually.

  • Did you enjoy reading it?
  • Was there a favourite part in it for you?
  • Did you like how the monster interacted with Conor?
  • What did you think of his Granny?
  • Did you get to the end without reaching for a packet of tissues?

These are a few simple questions if you’re stuck about what to say about it. We don’t expect an essay, just a few honest words about your involvement in this years project.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

READ DL is back

The READ DL 2018 committee are excited to bring Donegal its next collective reading adventure from 18thJanuary to the 1st March 2018.

This year’s chosen title is ‘A Monster Calls’ by the twice Carnegie Medal-winning author Patrick Ness. This novel explores love, loss and hope in a way that is deep and thought provoking. Told through the eyes of thirteen year old Conor, readers will be captivated by the central character’s strength and courage.

This years launch will take place at Central Library, Letterkenny on Friday 2nd February at 7pm.

READ DL is all about coming together. The objective of this project is to get as many people reading a book from a particular author at the same time, building not only a sense of community but also promoting and valuing the importance of literacy within our communities.  The team have put together a website this year which is packed with everything you need to know. Visit http://www.readdonegal.com.

Stay up to date by following READ DL on twitter and instragram using @readdonegal and on facebook using @readdlsocial.

Join us on Donegal’s One Book, One Community reading initiative this Spring. For 2017 we are reading The Breadwinner by Deborah Ellis. It’s a gripping tale of a young Afghan girls struggle for survival under Taliban rule. If you’ve read it, please post your thoughts or reviews on the book and join us in our conversation.
